A Quick Update

It's been a fairly unusual few months for me, and I haven't had much time to put blog posts together. Since the start of the year, I've been focusing on putting all my free writing time into our newsletter instead. Reaching the right audience in this business has always been something of a challenge for me, so I'm always willing to change things up and see if I can find my way to sorts of customers who need my help.

However, the July newsletter randomly fell victim to sender.net's algorithm four days before I went in for a major surgery. (In brief - I'm doing good, I got secondary infection because my suture removal appointment kept getting pushed back, and as a result my recovery has been much slower than I was hoping!).

Right as I hit 'Publish' on the latest monthly newsletter that had taken me 3 days to put together (and had some very cool bits and nice custom art and, generally, was the best newsletter yet IMO!) my account was suspended without explanation, and without any way to reach sender.net or appeal. Yep, the modern day classic. Not only did I no longer have access to the newsletter, I was locked out from all the previous newsletters, my subscriber list, my account, everything. I sent mails to no avail, and discovered this actually seems to happen a lot and the company never seems to help anyone or even appear to offer any kind of customer service beyond help pages (that don't help). I spent the rest of the week trying to get it sorted but had to give up the night before I was going into hospital, stressed and angry, and cancelled my business with them. Waddya gonna do?

Post-surgery, I had expected to be out of action for at least a couple of weeks, maybe a month, but in actuality it turned out more like two... so yes, if you had been wondering what happened to the newsletter, that's the story. It's not a great one but it's all disappointingly very true. At this point I'm still catching up on that lost time while trying not to overdo things, and trying to figure out whether it's worth getting it back up again and running with another mail provider, or just returning to more regular blogging. If you have any thoughts or opinions on this, do let me know. Writing this stuff makes me happy and sane, as well as serving the business needs of keeping me in touch with my customers, colleagues, and potentially new partners and friends. But I'd be curious to know if any of you prefer one over the other - so shout out.

Speak soon all, and stay well!
